History:
Ok. So the short story - I began training in Rochester NY in 1993 at Kevin Murray's Black Belt Karate Academy. I was taught traditional Isshin Ryu Karate and eventually obtained my Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 1997. I then continued karate and began taking Judo at the Finger Lakes Community College. After completing the courses there, I began training at the Bushido Kai Judo club in Penfield NY. After graduating from St. John Fisher College in 1999, and after a few severe injuries, I left for graduate school at the University of Virginia - thus taking a five year break from martial arts to obtain my doctorate. Upon completion of my Ph.D. in 2004, I began studying Jidokwan Taekwondo (WTF style) with Hapkido. After obtaining my second degree black belt in Taekwondo (2005), I retired yet again from martial arts for further education. Instead, I focused on physical fitness and spendt a year and a half running and weight lifting. In August of 2008, I began studying Songnham Taekwondo through ATA Leadership Martial Arts in Charlottesville Virginia. I have also begun the intense study of extreme martial arts or XMA.
